An unsubstantiated rumor reported by The Sun suggests that an idiosyncratic billionaire constructed the structure in order to prepare for a potential zombie outbreak.

“Is this Bjork’s Secret Retreat?”

Others have suggested that the house belongs to the famous Icelandic singer Bjork or to a religious hermit.

The rumors of Bjork’s ownership of the house are because she is a native of Iceland, and this island is located south of Iceland. However, the singer has denied any connection to the place.

Some users on social media have even suggested that the house is not real and that the images have been edited with Photoshop.

The Truth Behind the Viral Photos

The home actually exists on Ellidaey and is owned by the Ellidaey Hunting Association. Constructed in the 1950s, it’s used as a hunting lodge for those belonging to the organization, which goes after puffins.

The group constructed the house as a base to make their hunting outings more convenient, and it includes a sauna connected to a rainwater harvesting system.

The Hunting Association has confirmed that the house is well-maintained and is used for hunting trips to the island.
