Pizza cravings don’t just go away when you start eating low-carb. If anything, they sneak up more often. But there’s a way to get all that cheesy, savory satisfaction without blowing your carb count. These keto pizza pinwheels are one of my go-to fixes.
They’re quick, flavorful, and you only need a handful of ingredients to make them happen.
Whether you want a snack, a low-carb appetizer, or a meal prep option you can stash in the fridge, these little guys get the job done.
What Makes These Pinwheels So Good?

The secret here is simplicity. You don’t need fancy dough or hard-to-find ingredients. This recipe uses low-carb tortillas instead of traditional crust. That’s the trick that keeps carbs in check while still giving you that “bite of pizza” feeling.
They’re made in the air fryer, which gives them a crisp finish in just a few minutes. No need to turn on the oven. The end result is crispy on the outside, cheesy on the inside, and just messy enough to feel like comfort food.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s the basic lineup:
- Low-carb tortillas (your favorite brand)
- Cream cheese, softened
- Shredded mozzarella
- Pepperoni or other toppings
- Italian seasoning or pizza seasoning (optional)
That’s it. You can have a batch ready in about 15 minutes, start to finish.
How to Make Them
- Spread the cream cheese over a tortilla. Make sure it’s softened so it goes on smoothly.
- Sprinkle mozzarella over the top, then add your toppings (pepperoni, sausage, veggies, etc.).
- Roll it up tightly, then slice into 1 to 1.5-inch pinwheels.
- Place slices in the air fryer, cut-side up, and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 6 to 8 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Let them cool for a minute or two before serving so they firm up and hold their shape better.
Smart Ways to Customize
One thing I love about this recipe is how flexible it is. Here are some solid add-ins and swaps:
- More protein: Try cooked bacon, crumbled sausage, ground beef, or grilled chicken.
- More veggies: Add sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, spinach, or olives. Just make sure anything moist is patted dry to avoid sogginess.
- Spice it up: Use spicy pepperoni, add a pinch of crushed red pepper, or drizzle with hot sauce.
- Dairy-free: Go with a plant-based cream cheese and shredded vegan mozzarella.
This recipe is super forgiving, so you can easily adjust for different dietary needs.
Bonus Tips for Better Results
Here’s what I’ve learned from making these more times than I can count:
- Use room temp cream cheese so it spreads without tearing the tortilla.
- Don’t overstuff. Too much filling makes them hard to roll and harder to crisp.
- Roll them tightly so they don’t unravel during cooking.
- Line your air fryer with parchment or a silicone liner if sticking is a problem.
- Watch your cook time. Every air fryer is slightly different. Start checking around the 6-minute mark.
Can You Freeze Them?
Yes, you can. After cooking and cooling, wrap them individually in plastic wrap or foil. Store in a freezer bag or airtight container for up to 3 months. Reheat straight from frozen in the air fryer at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until hot.
For short-term storage, just pop leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the air fryer or oven until the cheese is melted and the edges are crisp again.
What to Serve Them With

These work great on their own, but if you’re looking to level things up, try:
- Marinara or pizza sauce for dipping (look for sugar-free brands to stay keto)
- Pesto for a herby twist
- Garlic butter if you’re going full comfort food mode
They’re also excellent with a side salad or some roasted veggies for a full meal.
These Pinwheels Are Worth It
If you’re eating low-carb and still dreaming about pizza, give these a shot. They take minutes to make, they’re endlessly customizable, and they taste like something you shouldn’t be able to eat on keto.
They’ve become one of my go-to recipes when I need something satisfying without a ton of effort. And the best part? No one I’ve served them to has guessed they’re low-carb.
