Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make Salmon Burgers with Avocado Salsa:

Salmon Burgers

  • 1 pound salmon fillet (skin removed): Salmon provides a rich flavor and flaky texture to the burgers, as well as healthy fats like omega-3 fatty acids.
  • 1 cup fresh or panko breadcrumbs: Make your own (see recipe menu below!) or use panko breadcrumbs, which are known for their light and airy texture.
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro or parsley: These fresh herbs add brightness and a pop of green color.
  • 2 eggs: They act as a binder, holding the ingredients together so the burgers don’t fall apart.
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise: Provides moisture and richness, enhancing the burgers’ texture and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice: Adds a tangy counterpoint to the richness of the salmon and mayonnaise. It also helps to keep the salmon fresh.
  • 1 teaspoon mustard: Offers a sharp, slightly pungent flavor that complements the salmon.
  • ½ teaspoon each of salt and pepper: For seasoning and boosting the flavor of the burger.
  • Olive oil: For greasing the pan or grill.

Avocado Salsa

  • 1 large chopped avocado: It’s the base of the salsa, providing a creamy texture, healthy fats, and a slightly nutty flavor.
  • ⅓ cup chopped red onion: Adds a sharp, pungent flavor and a bit of crunch.
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro: Offers a fresh, slightly citrusy flavor and a pop of green color.
  • 1 juiced lime: Provides acidity to balance the richness of the avocado and brighten the flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil: Adds richness and helps to bind the salsa ingredients together.
  • Sprinkle of salt and pepper: Seasonings to enhance the flavor of the salsa.

Where to Cook Salmon Burgers

You can either use a non-stick grill pan on your stove or fire up the outdoor grill for that smoky taste. You can use a Neoflam grill pan for indoor cooking so that nothing ever sticks, and it’s super easy to clean.

If you’re grilling outdoors, grab a non-stick grill mat to keep those burgers from sticking.

Notes

You might prefer fresh breadcrumbs for your salmon burgers, although Panko works great too. If you’re going the fresh route, just pop 4 slices of slightly stale bread into your food processor and pulse it until you’ve got breadcrumbs. Italian or regular white bread will give you the best results here.
