Ingredients
  

For the Burgers:

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef 80/20
  • 3 tablespoons butter divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

For the Toppings:

  • 4 pieces leaf lettuce
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/2 red onion peeled and sliced

Instructions
 

  • Form 8 three-ounce beef balls and chill. Heat griddle to 400°F.
  • Melt butter on a griddle, toast buns for 2 minutes, set aside, then add remaining butter.
  • Place 4 beef balls on a hot griddle, cover each with parchment paper, and smash firmly into thin patties.
  • Season with garlic salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes until juices appear on the surface.
  • Scrape and flip patties, cook 1 minute more, then add cheese to half the patties.
  • Stack non-cheese patties on cheese-covered ones to create doubles.
  • Transfer to a platter and repeat the process with thw maining beef balls
  • Build burgers on toasted buns with lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
