Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats divided
  • 1/2 banana cut into 4 chunks
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter no artificial sweeteners
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or greasing it lightly.
  • Take 1 1/2 cups of old-fashioned rolled oats and place them in a chopper or small food processor. Grind the oats until they reach a flour-like consistency, then transfer the oat flour to a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  • In the same chopper or food processor, combine half a banana (cut into four chunks), ¼ cup of peanut butter (without artificial sweeteners), and one egg. Process the mixture until it is well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl if necessary to ensure even blending.
  • Pour the banana-peanut butter mixture into the bowl containing the oat flour. Add the remaining 1/4 cup of whole rolled oats to the bowl and stir all the ingredients together until they are well incorporated.
  • Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, portion out the dough and roll each scoop into a ball. You can adjust the size of the treats according to your dog's preferences.
  • Place the rolled treats on the prepared baking sheet and use the tines of a fork to flatten each ball in a criss-cross pattern gently.
  • Bake the treats in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes (based on 1-tablespoon-sized treats) for a softer center. Adjust the baking time as needed for larger or smaller treats.
  • Once baked, allow the treats to cool completely on the baking sheet before removing them.
  • Store the cooled treats in an air-tight container at room temperature for a few days. For longer storage, keep them in the refrigerator or freezer.

Notes

Only serve your dog treats that contain safe ingredients. When in doubt, check with your veterinarian. Peanut Butter should not contain artificial sweeteners (Xylitol is dangerous for dogs.)
