Instructions
Empty your 1-gallon bag of kitchen scraps (chicken bones, carrot peels, onion peels, celery ends, garlic scraps, etc.) into your slow cooker.
Coarsely chop any additional fresh vegetables and garlic cloves, and add them to the slow cooker to fill any remaining space.
Pour in 8 cups of water, or enough to fill your slow cooker, ensuring all ingredients are submerged.
Set your slow cooker to low and allow the broth to simmer for 12-24 hours, extracting maximum flavor and nutrients.
Once cooking is complete, use a spoon or strainer to remove the hot broth from the slow cooker and transfer it to a large bowl. Discard the remaining scraps.
Allow the broth to cool completely in the refrigerator. A solid layer of fat will form on the surface as it cools.
Once the broth has fully cooled, skim off the layer of fat and discard it.
Season the broth with salt and pepper to taste. Your homemade chicken broth is now ready to be used immediately or frozen in your favorite recipes for later use.
