Ingredients
  

  • 1 gallon bag of kitchen scraps chicken bones carrot peels, onion peels, celery ends, garlic scraps, etc.
  • additional fresh vegetables as needed to fill your slow cooker
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • 8 cups water or enough to fill slow cooker
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Empty your 1-gallon bag of kitchen scraps (chicken bones, carrot peels, onion peels, celery ends, garlic scraps, etc.) into your slow cooker.
  • Coarsely chop any additional fresh vegetables and garlic cloves, and add them to the slow cooker to fill any remaining space.
  • Pour in 8 cups of water, or enough to fill your slow cooker, ensuring all ingredients are submerged.
  • Set your slow cooker to low and allow the broth to simmer for 12-24 hours, extracting maximum flavor and nutrients.
  • Once cooking is complete, use a spoon or strainer to remove the hot broth from the slow cooker and transfer it to a large bowl. Discard the remaining scraps.
  • Allow the broth to cool completely in the refrigerator. A solid layer of fat will form on the surface as it cools.
  • Once the broth has fully cooled, skim off the layer of fat and discard it.
  • Season the broth with salt and pepper to taste. Your homemade chicken broth is now ready to be used immediately or frozen in your favorite recipes for later use.
