Instructions
Prepare the Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a rimmed baking sheet with melted butter and set it aside.
Cook the Beef Mixture: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Stir occasionally and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Continue cooking for about 8 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet and set the beef mixture aside.
Mix in the Mayo: Stir the mayonnaise into the cooked beef mixture, ensuring it’s well combined.
Assemble the Sliders:Without separating the rolls, carefully slice them in half horizontally using a serrated knife. Place the bottom half of the rolls on the prepared baking sheet.Lay 8 slices of cheddar cheese evenly across the bottom half of the rolls.Spread the prepared beef mixture over the cheese in an even layer, pressing it to the edges for a uniform finish.Place the remaining 8 slices of cheese on top of the beef mixture, then cover everything with the top half of the rolls.
Add Toppings and Bake: Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over them. Transfer the sliders to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is gooey and the tops of the buns are golden brown.
Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, let them cool slightly, and then slice them into individual pieces. Serve immediately with your favorite condiments or sides like pickles, fries, or coleslaw.
Notes
Variations:
Use everything-but-the-bagel seasoning as a creative alternative to sesame seeds.
Swap out cheddar for your favorite cheese, such as Swiss or American, to customize the flavor.
Make Ahead: You can prepare the sliders a day ahead by assembling them, covering them, and refrigerating them. When ready, bake as directed.Reheating: To warm leftovers, microwave sliders for 20–30 seconds until heated through.
