Some Staffordshire Bull Terriers can be quite stocky, and people might mistake them for other breeds, like a pit bull. Pit bulls fall under the Dangerous Dogs Act in both the UK and the U.S., A Staffie is not a banned breed in the UK, although it is in the U.S. (ref).
