Soul Food Alabama White Sauce

This creamy and tangy Alabama white sauce is a Southern classic that adds bold soul food flavor to grilled or smoked meats.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 2 teaspoons brown mustard
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise with the apple cider vinegar and orange juice.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, horseradish, and brown mustard until fully blended.
  • Add in the Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Whisk everything together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate. Let chill for at least 30 minutes before using for best flavor.

Notes

  • This sauce pairs exceptionally well with smoked chicken, grilled pork, or even as a zesty dip for roasted vegetables.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper for more or less heat to suit your taste.
  • Shake or stir before each use if the sauce separates during storage.
