1½-Pound Loaf

  • cup milk
  • cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 3 tbsp butter softened and cut into pieces
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • ¾ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp yeast

2-Pound Loaf

  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • tbsp lemon zest
  • 4 tbsp butter softened and cut into pieces
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • tsp yeast

Instructions
 

  • Add ingredients to your bread machine’s baking pan in the order listed—start with the milk and end with the yeast.
  • Select the Basic/White program based on your machine’s settings.
  • Choose the loaf size (1½-pound or 2-pound) that matches your ingredient list.
  • Start the machine and let it run its full cycle.
  • When baking is complete, carefully remove the loaf from the bread pan.
  • Place on a wire rack and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

  • Ensure your milk and sour cream are at room temperature for best results.
