8 oz whole fresh button mushrooms ½ cup whole wheat flour ½ tsp salt ½ tsp black pepper ¼ tsp dry mustard ¼ tsp paprika ½ cup buttermilk oil (vegetable and canola)

In a large ziplock bag, bowl, or paper bag, combine whole-wheat flour, dry mustard, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Pour buttermilk into a separate bowl. Dip each mushroom into the buttermilk.
Add the buttermilk-coated mushrooms to the bag with the flour mixture.
Shake the bag until the mushrooms are evenly coated.
Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a deep fryer or saucepan to 375 degrees F.
Fry the mushrooms in batches until golden brown on all sides.
