Michelada Cocktail Recipe

A Michelada is a classic Mexican beer cocktail with a tangy, savory kick.
This refreshing drink combines lime juice, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce with a light beer, served over ice with a salted rim.

  • Tall chilled glass

Ingredients
  

  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 dashes hot sauce
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 pinch celery salt
  • 1 bottle light beer chilled
  • Garnish: Lime wedge
  • Optional: Sea salt and pepper rim

Variations

Watermelon Mint Michelada

  • Puree 3–4 cubes of watermelon with 3–4 crushed mint leaves.
  • Stir the puree into the classic recipe and garnish with a small watermelon wedge and a mint sprig.

Mango Michelada

  • Blend fresh mango chunks until smooth.
  • Mix into the classic recipe for a tropical twist.

Spicy Pineapple Michelada

  • Add 1 ounce of pineapple juice to the traditional recipe.
  • Garnish with a pineapple wedge.

Cucumber Michelada

  • Mash 3–4 slices of peeled cucumber into a smooth consistency.
  • Mix with the classic ingredients and garnish with a cucumber ribbon.

Michelada Negra

  • Stir in 1 teaspoon of soy sauce.
  • Use a dark beer instead of a light one for a deeper flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Rim a tall chilled glass with a mixture of sea salt and pepper if desired.
  • Pour the lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, black pepper, and celery salt into the glass.
  • Stir gently to combine.
  • Top with chilled beer and mix lightly.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce for more or less spice.
  • Experiment with different beer types to find your preferred flavor.
  • A Tajín rim can be used for extra zest.
