Cuisine Mediterranean, Middle Eastern
Servings 4 cups

Equipment

  • Kitchen shears
  • Chef's knife
  • Rimmed baking sheet
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

  • 2 6½-inch pita breads
  • Olive or canola oil spray
  • Pinch table salt
  • Pinch pepper

Instructions

  • Prep the Oven & Pitas: Position the oven rack in the center and set the temperature to 350°F. Using kitchen shears, trim around the outer edge of each pita to split them into two thin, circular layers.
  • Season & Slice: Take one layer at a time and lightly coat the rough side with oil spray. Sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper over the surface. Stack the pita rounds rough-side up, then cut the stack into six wedge-shaped pieces using a chef’s knife. Spread these wedges on a rimmed baking sheet in a single, rough-side-up layer.
  • Bake & Cool: Place in the oven and bake until the chips are crispy and golden—about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir once or twice and rotate the sheet midway through for even browning. Remove the chips from the oven, transfer them to a wire rack, and allow them to cool for roughly 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Works well with either white or whole-wheat pita.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
  • Try dusting with garlic powder, za'atar, or smoked paprika for flavor twists.
