  • 4 1/2 cups boiling water divided
  • 7 packages 3 ounces each assorted flavored gelatin
  • 4 1/2 cups cold water divided
  • 1 can 12 ounces evaporated milk divided
  • 1 carton 8 ounces frozen whipped topping thawed
  • Sliced strawberries and kiwifruit (Optional)

Instructions
 

  • Begin by dissolving one package of gelatin in a small bowl of 3/4 cup of boiling water, stirring for 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add 3/4 cup of cold water to the mixture and pour it into a 3-quart trifle or glass bowl. Place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 40 minutes, allowing the gelatin to set without becoming firm.
  • For the next layer, use a clean bowl and dissolve another package of gelatin in 1/2 cup of boiling water. Stir in 1/2 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of milk, creating a creamy gelatin mixture. Gently spoon this mixture over the first layer in the trifle bowl. Return the bowl to the refrigerator, allowing the second layer to set without becoming firm.
  • Repeat this process five more times, alternating between plain gelatin layers (using 3/4 cup boiling water and 3/4 cup cold water) and creamy gelatin layers (using 1/2 cup boiling water, 1/2 cup cold water, and 1/2 cup milk). Remember to let each layer set in the refrigerator before adding the next, ensuring that the layers remain distinct and visually appealing.
  • Once all seven layers have been added, cover the trifle bowl and refrigerate the gelatin salad overnight, allowing the layers to set fully and the flavors to meld together. When ready to serve, top the 7-layer Gelatin Salad with whipped topping and, if desired, fresh fruit for added flavor and texture.
